Ice-skating Day, School Nurse Health Lesson and Sarah Loddick teaching students about the brain.29/2/2016 Week 5 was another busy week of learning in PYP 4!
Students thoroughly enjoyed expanding their knowledge about the skeletal system and completing a range of fun activities to help them further understand their new learning. In writing, students are beginning to create their own compare and contrast essays about a topic of their choice. During whole class reading and reading groups on Fridays, we are further investigating the human body in order to connect with our current unit of inquiry. It has been fun learning more about area and perimeter during maths, completing a number of hands on activities to help us. You can assist your child's learning by asking them about their homelearning activities. Many thanks for your wonderful support, Mike, Geoff and Cath Hello all!
As of this week the school has decided that all weekly updates will be coming through managebac as managebac is our main avenue for communication. Therefore you will, as of Week 6, start receiving a weekly update to your managebac accounts instead of here. We will still use this site though for the rest of the year and please visit here after big events to see photos. Regards Grade 4 This week the year four students have been working extremely hard to design their city for our Cities and How They Function unit of inquiry. We have been very impressed with the designs so far and there has certainly been a very high level of creativity shown. All the teachers are looking forward to seeing all of the cities when we visit each others' rooms next week.
In our maths lessons we have continued to work in the 'Shape and Space' strand, and will be beginning to explore measurement next. It has also been impressive to see the improvement of the students' recall of tables and number facts. We are finishing off our fantasy writing this week and the imagination the students have shown has been very impressive. In addition the interesting characters and creative settings have all the teachers looking forward to reading the finished stories. Remember to look at the important dates on the side and also to make sure to continue to login to School Soft if your child is sick or going to be late/picked up early from school. This is a really important process and will assist us with ensuring we know where the students are and that they are safe. Additionally if you could also check Managebac for Year 4 messages or information sent to your class in particular. Enjoy your weekend! Mike, Geoff and Cath |
