Students have had another fantastic week of learning this week! We are very proud of the way they worked during their ISA testing and parents will hear more about the results of their child's test at a later date.
We are also very proud of the way in which our students approached their first inquiry assignment. It was a challenging project but all students were able to present their finished product today during our 'Walk About Tour' to all 3 grade 4 classrooms. Students then became reflective learners and spent time looking at the things they did really well throughout the project and things which they could continue to improve on as a learner. We will be introducing our next exciting inquiry concept next week, so stay tuned for more information. A few reminders from us about next week, we have our excursion to Universeum on Wednesday the 30th Sep and then our Developmental Talks the following day. If you have not yet signed up for a time in the reception area please do so asap. We are still looking for about 3 helpers for our excursion on Wednesday so if you can come along please contact your class teacher or parent representative. Please also remember that October the 7th is a Professional Development day for all teachers so there will be no school that day. We look forward to a fantastic week of learning next week and hope you have a safe and happy weekend. Geoff, Mike and Cath This week has been another busy one in year four as we continued to learn more about values, beliefs and religions. The children have now started their projects and they will be sharing their final projects with one another next Friday 25th.
This week has been Health Week and the children have enjoyed doing many fun things including assemblies, the school jog and the student council football tournament. Please have a look through the photos below this post. It has also been a fun week in Mathematics, where we have learnt more about place value and ordering numbers. In class we have used maths games and ICT to assist our learning. In Language we have started our reading groups and also written a piece of observational writing about the students' observations during the practice fire drill last week and our health week warm-ups. Next week, week 39, Grade Four will be taking the ACER International School's Assessment. The assessments are meant to show an indication of where the children are in comparison to other international schools all over the world. The further purpose of the test is to show a true reflection of where the child is on the day of the assessment, so prior revision is not recommended. Have a great weekend! Grade 4 Team Last week was another busy one in year four as we continued to learn more about values, beliefs and religions. We will be starting our summative task on comparing two or more religions using a graphic organiser this week. The students will be given a sheet explaining the task and we have also sent a message to you on Managebac. There has been a focus on using research skills such as scanning and note taking to find information. We have been using a range of resources including a wide variety of books from our school library and BBC You Tube videos. We had a very interesting and informative presentation from one of our parents last week. If any other parents who would like to come and talk about their specific beliefs during next week please contact your child's class teacher.
It has also been a fun week in Mathematics, where we have learnt more about mean, median and mode and started our next unit on place value. In class we have used maths games and ICT to assist our learning. We have included some web sites for you to use at home if you would like. In Language we have started our reading groups and also written a piece of observational writing about the students' observations during the practice fire drill last week. Week 38 is Health Week and we will be doing many fun things including assemblies, the school jog and the student council football tournament. (which is now on tomorrow Tuesday) This Wednesday we will have our School Jog in Slottsskogen and all parents are welcome to either meet us there or walk with us. Have a great week! Grade 4 Team It has been another busy week for the grade 4s. The students and ourselves have continued to enjoy getting to know more about our values, beliefs and religions and have had some fantastic conversations together about these. We will soon be starting our inquiry project and have been working very hard as researchers to find information to assist with these projects. We have a range of fantastic books in our class libraries, where students read from every morning upon arrival at school. Students have continued to discuss, reflect on and write about their own values and beliefs. We are most excited to have a parent coming in this week to speak to us about our first unit of inquiry and invite any other parents who would like to come and talk about their specific beliefs during the next week or two, to please contact your child's class teacher to arrange a mutually convenient time. It has also been a fun week in Mathematics, where we have learnt more about mean, median and mode. You may have heard about our new mean, median and mode toads, who sing a fabulous and catchy song.
Students have been enjoying Chess Club, held by Mike on a Friday afternoon. Cath is excited to announce that she will be having a 'Creative Club' on Monday afternoons in her classroom. Both lunch clubs start at 12:45 and finish at 13:15. Our annual Health Week is fast approaching in week 38 and we will have our fun School Jog in Slottsskogen on Wednesday 16th September. All parents are welcome to join us and more details about the day will follow soon. We will be doing many fun things with the students at school throughout Health Week so remember to ask them all about it during week 38. We are also really looking forward to welcoming Geoff back to the team and would also like to give a big thank you to Mark for assisting in Geoff's class for the past three weeks. We hope to see him back again soon. Have a great week, Grade 4 Team |
