During this week we have been learning a lot and enjoying the 'great' December weather! In our current Unit of Inquiry we have been learning more about how different infrastructures function and how they need to be managed and maintained. Students appear to be thoroughly enjoying this unit and are getting excited for our city tour on the 16th of December.
In our math the children have enjoyed learning about the world of Geometry and how angles are all around us! In our writing we have been continuing our Fantasy stories and improving our abilities to edit and improve writing. On Monday we went to visit Birgitta, the head of ISGR, who gave a presentation about the history and tradition of Santa Lucia. On Thursday we went to Annadal church to watch the Grade 5 and the School Choir preform Santa Lucia. It was a great moment in our school year! Next week we are looking forward to another fun week full of more learning and maybe some winter craft and singing! We have many fantastic things happening in 4th grade so be sure to keep looking at ManageBac for updates. Just a quick reminder about our upcoming events - The city trip on the 16th and also the classroom Fika with parents on the last day of term 18th. As the term draws to an end we would like to thank all the students for their hard work and thank all the parents for helping and supporting us this year! We hope you have a lovely weekend and remember to stay warm, Mike Geoff and Cath Week 49 has been another fun filled week of learning! We continued to investigate elements of cities through games, videos, hands on work and online city creating websites. Students appear to be thoroughly enjoying this inquiry and are getting excited for our city tour on the 16th of December. Last week students had an absolutely brilliant time creating their very own classroom city. In groups, (industrial, residential and commercial) students were able to use any resources they could get their hands on within the classroom to create elements of their groups area. They then had to explain to the other groups what they had included in their area and why.
In language, students are beginning to create their fantasy stories! They have worked very hard on finishing their fantasy booklets and we are now excited to read their finished products. This week we have started a new math concept, learning about 'Shape and Space'. Students have started looking at elements of shapes and space in order to better understand the world around them. Cross-Team has been a successful learning experience for all, creating, making, discussing and using ICT. This weeks photo is of one group creating well designed and tested paper planes. We have many fantastic things happening in 4th grade so be sure to keep looking at ManageBac for updates and also check out the calendar on here. Just a quick reminder of upcoming events-Lucia, student classroom celebrations, the city trip and also the classroom Fika with parents on the last day of term. We hope you have a lovely weekend and remember to stay warm, Mike, Geoff and Cath |
